Caregiver Nancy and her Mother Edna

My mother Edna, has severe arthritis which can make it very painful to walk, shower and perform daily activities. She is a widower of her husband that was a military man for 22 years. She did not get any compensation for taking care of him. When he passed in 2019, her health has continued to get worse. She has high blood pressure, diverticulitis and arthritis in shoulders, hips and back. She uses a walker.

I live with her currently and until August I have had a job in Plano as a records administrator. I have chosen to take early retirement to make sure I will be there for her. She fell last year and she was unable to get herself up. She did not break anything. Thank God.

She receives Social security and retirement pay and I will receive my retirement at the end of the month but Medical expenses are going up and I am worried that I cannot make the bills.

I take mom to appointments, and I shop and maintain the household. I have been taking care of both of my parents needs and supported them for 20 years. My Mother took care of my father her whole life and now she needs me to be with her during this difficult time. I am blessed that she is still here with me and I have peace of mind knowing I can come up with meals to cook.

Thank you,
Nancy from Plano, TX
