Want to make a difference in your community?
Become a Volunteer Ambassador for the North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging!
The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging (NCT AAA), located at 616 Six Flags Drive in Arlington, is a program of North Central Texas Council Of Governments (NCTCOG) a voluntary association of local governments established in 1966 to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development.
NCTCOG’s purpose is to strengthen both the individual and collective power of local governments and to help them recognize regional opportunities, eliminate unnecessary duplication, and make joint decisions.
The Importance of Your Role
You’ll act as a light in the community, sharing information on the programs and services provided by the NCT AAA, helping them broaden their reach and connect with more people.
You’ll represent NCT AAA by attending health fairs, wellness expos, and similar public events at churches, community centers, libraries, senior centers, or corporation-sponsored events in your community. You may also give virtual and in-person presentations.
Finding Your Voice
The NCT AAA Volunteer Coordinator, Sharon Rowbottom, will provide training and help you unlock the keys to your unique voice. You’ll also attend events and speaking engagements with an experienced volunteer or staff member until you are comfortable on your own.
In addition she will provide orientation materials, including a volunteer handbook, to ensure you have the knowledge you need.
Once you complete orientation training, you’ll attend speaking engagements and health fairs on an as-needed basis, as your schedule allows. At least one presentation and one health fair attendance are required per year to ensure you stay up to date. That’s it! You Can Help!
Call 800-272-3921 (Ext .82373) to speak with Sharon Rowbottom, Volunteer Coordinator, to learn how you can make a difference! And visit https://www.nctcog.org/Aging-Services/Volunteer-Opportunities to learn more.
